I have never had a problem with bob white quails before but I recently sold mine and I got some more full grown ones. At night in Ohio it it getting cold but my first flock was good with the cold and I put them in at november for the 2 years I had them. But these new birds did fine until the cold weather and about four died now I have about 8 left so I don't like to take chances so I moved them inside my barn with a heat lamp on them at night. Why could they be dying aren't Bob whites sopossed to be good in the chilly weather. The ones I had before were butler and now there northern bob white. They always have food and water. The coturnix quail are doing better then them I am surprised. And any other bob white care tips would be helpful I just want to know everything about these birds for their happiness and mine.

How cold is it? I live in CA and leave my quail outside, even my little button quail. Oh ya and btw I don't think that you should put a heat lamp in your barn, it might catch on fire. just a suggestion

I live north eastern Ohio so around this time of year it has been about high 50s through 70s and about 40 degrees at night. The coturnix act like they don't need a light but the bob whites act like they are all sick like they walk and fall and fall on their face all the time so thats when I put them inside with a heat light. Next to the brooder. They have plenty of food and water and are drinking water and eating. This has never happened before I'm getting frustrated.
