Can I raise Chicks in my backgarden?

Here in Georgia where we live, we've been experiencing summer time temperatures into the high 70s, we should be in the high 50s or so. I have seen the day time temperatures in the 70s, and three or four days later in the 30s, lower at night. Raising chicks and bunnies in brooder cages gets to being a big guessing game. Since they have become part of our income (a small part), I
built a tent frame and covered it with the cheap tarps from Harbor Freight. To keep the little ones warm, I use heat lamps and heat pads (on low setting) over a wire box of a sort with one side open. We still have to keep in mind the daytime temperatures can heat up the tent fast, but at night we have to be sure it doesn't get too cold. It does take a while to get accustomed to the temperature swings. Oh, one other thing, anyone doing this needs to have a thermometer in the tent with remote sensor. They don't cost that much at Walmart, and they do pay off in the long run.
