Hello from central va

Thread Starter
My sweet dh brought me some local eggs a few days ago. Cracking one open it appeared to be fertile, so I've dusted off the old bator a put a dozen in. It's been 5 years since I've had chickens. We own our home now, but do have an HOA to contend with. I won't be keeping any Roos past 4 months. I'm not sure what breed laid these eggs, but they are large brown eggs. Does anyone know where I can find a list of possible breeds for fun?

Wife to wonderful DH, mom to  3 little ones (12 Stephen, 8 Mikie, and 4 Kate), caretaker for several family pets including: our three legged box turtle Pi, shi-tzu mix Dom, guinea pig- Roy, and two hamsters. We have five barred rock eggs in the incubator due 11/9.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. Couldn't even hazard a guess on the eggs and breed, but once the chicks are 6 weeks old, you can post pics on the breed / gender forum - http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this Good luck with the hatch!

Best wishes

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

Eggs could be many things... I'd bet on Black or Red Sex Links.
