The IB newbies are getting picked on by the next oldest group of Americanas (who are eight month olds). I'm amazed at the pecking order of chickens and how the hens can go after each other. The adults seem to have done their thing, but the youngsters can be unrelentless. What tickles me the most is that here is this giant Copper Maran Rooster who knows better than to get in-between two hens when they are fussing. He watches from a safe distance.
After being out all afternoon exploring (and being picked on here and there), I closed them up long enough to let them eat in peace. They are still pretty young, as you know, and probably need more nourishment.
I have never clipped wings, but I may learn if they fly too far.
