I've got a 30 gallon barrel I've been thinking about making into a feeder. Need to figure out something for the lid aspect of it though.

The voices in my head are fighting again.

My imaginary friend is running with scissors, and one of my personalities wandered off.

I don't like to think before I speak. I like to be just as surprised as everyone else about what comes out my mouth.

Sometimes even I am afraid of the things my mind comes up with.

I googled "over center latch"

Image result for over center latch

find one that you can use with chain and attach a carabineer for a lock to fasten the lid down for goat proof

I had to come in out of the blind to make this reply, since I still can't do it on the 'puter in the blind. I hope you appreciate the sacrifices I'm willing to make for you!  :P I just want to give you a heads-up.

I had one of those buildings like your dad gave you. I called mine the "paper building". They're not cheap, money-wise, when you factor in how long they last. Yes, they are thicker than a regular tarp, and UV doesn't deteriorate them as quickly, although mine didn't last long enough for UV to be a problem.

The big problem with them is wind. They'd probably work out o.k. in a location that's protected from strong winds, like next to a shed or a block building, on the lee side. Mine, however, was out in the open, away from any protecting solid structures, and the wind literally shredded it in a relatively short time.

LMAO oh kind  sir I appreciate you much!!

I am thinking of a spot that is in the woods and being a bit in the valley of the mnt here where the road goes up through it dont get too bad down below, but top of house does.  HOWEVER tree limbs are an issue then.  uggg maybe I should give it back to him, no clue why he bought three, they were on sale he said lol    or maybe I can use in spring for the meaties and then take it down or something

I have a question - for those who choose to bond with your chickens, what do you do when you have a rooster, who just refusess to let you get near him? I've raised him from a baby, and while my alpha roo, lets me carry him around, hold him, pat him, (with reservations, but he lets me do it.) thing #2, refuses to let me get near him and will pace in front of the chicken coop, and refuse to come out, if I'm sitting there, waiting for him.

Why does he hate me so much? He used to like us :(

meal worms   LIVE meal worms catch him and hold him until he submits and eats them from your hand after he had two or three keep holding him a bit and then give him two three more and repeat.   then do again another day he will come to you

It's got the two small screw hole lids. Kinda useless for anything not a liquid. So I'll have to cut a bigger hole and then think of something to cover it with.
