I don't have advice that comes from experience here (not using broodies) - you might want to ask on the Old Fashioned Broody thread while seeing if anyone pipes up here. But I suspect that Rainbow may be the best shot the chick has, and can probably do better with it than you could have arranged. Keep an eye on it, and maybe give Rainbow and her chicks some water with electrolytes in it for the day so this chick will get some... Just my thoughts.
Good morning Banti. I'm outside enjoying the cool morning. At least for the moment. List is long. Coffee roasting is top of list.
No more Rugrats!! Keep them, sorry....Good morning, the person I've designated to adopt me if I have triplets.....
JK.
My new geese are settling in well. Now I just have to earn their trust and make them like me, while not vomitting over their smell.
Hope your able to stay cool in the heat of this coming week. Our temps are supposed to reach 109 here but I've heard south of here is to be hotter. It was 100 today.
I did get some stuff done on the dirt that's being hauled in to level things up a bit here tonight

Thanks for trying to help me but sadly the chick died during the night . It was ice cold and had maggots crawling all over it when I went to check on it this morning
Oh, I'm so sorry. I doubt there was anything different you could have done, and Rainbow probably did her best.

Yeah, looks to be a hot week, but we all (me and the chickens) have been slowly adapting, should be ok. I need to set up the new misters, though. Woke up with a mildly pulled back - it'll pass, but it's distinctly un-fun to change water (twisting and lifting heavy things) when it's like this. I waited and the pain meds are kicking in, so heading out before it gets too hot. It's going to be 100F today per Dark Sky. Got a "Special weather alert" on my phone. It's gonna be hot, drink a lot of water, be careful outdoors, etc. Duh!
I really need to do that.
Pics? I have to vicariously enjoy your geese, as I want them but have no room for them...

I am up now (back a bit better), and I need to go let out all the young ones - installing the automatic doors is top on the list this weekend, they hate waiting on me in the mornings, and I hate being nervous I'll forget to lock up in the evenings. Once that's done, some tidying up, coop cleaning, and then some waterer and mister design to do.

Just reading that makes me need a nap.How did some early chores, and now I'm on the way to the feed store. After that I have a goat shed to finish siding and 500 ft more of backwards T post to tie ties to the new field fence. Once I get that tied and the low water run spot taken care of I can let my goats out my perimeter of 12 acres is finally finished.
Then I have one more cross fence to finish for the upper Meadow. When that is done I will have six main divisions with three smaller pens for holding small groups quarantining or just the one where I put the dairy goats up at night.
Awwwwwww.....You would ask me for geese picture, right after I laid down. LOL
You'll have to settle for a puppy picture, instead.
