EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I apologize but right when the site went down for the upgrade (ha!), my computer went down. By the time I got it going, the new site was up and I got terribly busy. Spring and early summer are always busy but during that time, one of my best friends became hospitalized and almost died. I took over her business till she got well. My kids were in 3 car accidents - totaling their cars and mine. None their fault. My son was on his way to work sitting at a red light. A car rear ended him sending him into cross traffic, destroying both the backend and frontend.
My daughter was on her way home from work at 2AM and there was an accident on the interstate. Traffic was at a standstill when an SUV rear ended her and exited the off ramp leaving the scene.
My son borrowed my car till he got paid for his car. He works downtown and has to park at a meter. During his shift he went out to feed the meter. As he was walking back to work he heard an accident behind him. Turning around he saw the two cars slam into my parked car. And of course the guilty party was insured.

Just didn't have time to try to figure out how to negotiate the site. I miss a lot of the old features and really don't like the new functionality.
Where is the thing that says this is post #1201 of 1253? I hate having to scroll to the bottom of the page to know where I am in a thread.
Where is the box that says who is viewing?
Why does it no longer say if a poster is online?
Where's the popup that says there are new posts in this thread?
And why is this thing so dang slow?
I'll be typing away and it takes forever to show up on the screen.
Oh my, at least they all escaped with their lives. As for the site questions, I've been asking myself that.

:frow All I can tell you is YOU HAVE BEEN MISSED!
Welcome back!
Thanks. Not sure I'm back back but I'm here for now
I am not going to lie - I definitely miss the old forums, and a lot of old posters are no longer posting here, since the changes :( I know they felt the need to upgrade them, but I feel like it effectively culled a lot of regulars from posting.
It certainly culled me. I guess the site works for admins but not me/us.
I also miss the 'my last post button' so I could go back to where I left off to see new posts on a lengthy thread.
You can preview your reply but it isn't as easy as before.
I guess it just proves that nothing lasts forever.
Morning CC been hot here too. However it cools to 75 at night
75 would be sweet. 66% humidity right now but that will go up later in the week as the temp goes up. I think Arizona is the only place that will be as hot as St. L.
I watched the 1944 Frances Ethel Gumm (Judy Garland) movie about the 1904 World's Fair recently. Hot as hades and in those dresses and suits, I can't imagine.
No one had air conditioning when I was a kid and hordes of people used to sleep in the park or on porches in July and August. It was/is brutal. Eventually I'll move to high elevation.
We did have a mild weekend so that is something.

We heard about the son's first accident; I didn't know about the other two.
Don't fell lonely about the new format; I share most of the same questions & problems! I'm frustrated with it on a daily basis.

By the way, I missed ya'll too but I think I got a lot more done than if the site hadn't changed.

I lost more birds to coons while I was away.
I started trapping with a vengeance. In 2 weeks I caught 7 raccoons and 3 more were killed on the road by my house.
As for Hav-a-hart and cage traps - not really very effective against intelligent raccoons.
I had a Hav-a-hart trap baited every night with the same bait used in a duke style dog proof leg trap. They were 20 feet apart. Nothing in the box trap and 7 in the leg trap.

Did Dax relay the accident info? The three accidents were in less than 3 weeks.
I'm glad I'm not the only one frustrated.
Misery loves company - my mother always said.

It's definitely better in respects, but it just isn't "home". Oh well, I suppose once a few years have gone by again we'll have settled in.

Unless I missed something (easy to do now) the only one I remember is the son's first one.

If enough of us get frustrated, they might go back to the old format. I heard the 2nd Tuesday of next week, if it snows in St. Louis

Wasn't it St. Louis and Port Richey too?
