EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

@daxigait We have been discussing that on the Minnesota thread.

There seems to be a lot of it going around. They go limp and then die.

I think it is weather related, we have had an extremely wet and humid summer, which I think promotes bacteria growth. I think it is botulism. We have found Vitamin b12 and B complex to be promising in countering this. Only time will tell.
Thanks. I was not ignoring you, but simply too busy. How much are you giving?

I give about 1 cc daily of the B-complex, I am giving 2cc orally of the b12. I read Selenium might help but I do not have any of that. I figure the over dosage will pass through. She is looking better, but I read it could take 8 weeks for her to turn around completely.

I read tetracycline will kill the bacteria but I am not having much luck on that either. I am giving a piece of Calf Bolus about so big " fingers held so far apart" Once a day. I am guessing about 1/5th of a calf bolus.

Also she gets physical therapy now, as she fights me on all these things so we both get a work out...She cheated yesterday though and bit me. I think I have chicken rabies now....

Hi guys!

I haven't popped in for awhile. Been busy with garden, (everything died) ripe fruit and naturally, chickens...which stopped dying for the time being thank God!

The last three chicks I hatched in the brinsea are doing well. They imprinted deeply with my husband and myself and still follow us around whenever they get the chance. 2 little pullets and a little Buff O Cockerel who may or may not have some bantam blood in him. The little Cockerel is a miracle bird for sure and spoiled rotten.

Hope y'all are doing well everyone in harm's way from Irma or recovering from Harvey's visit. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
