Gender?

They were sold as americana chickens so hopefully that was correct too. My children are excited to see blue eggs and mommy is too!
 
I'm thinking pullets (hens under a year).

They are EEs. Many Hatcheries (who sell to feed store) sell EEs as incorrectly Ameraucanas, Araucanas, or Americanas. Ameraucanas and Araucanas are very rare and you can't buy them from hatcheries.
EEs usually lay blue or green eggs, but sometimes lay brown and pink.

All Easter Eggers. All pullets. Some may be blue layers, some may lay green, and some may lay brown. You never know what color an Easter Egger will lay until they start producing eggs.
