Until this spring, we lived in north central FL (moved to WY). One of the biggest challenges we had was the heat & humidity making our chickens uncomfortable in the summer. Some of the things we did: took all the glass windows and solid doors off the coop & replaced them with hardware frames; we gave the girls cooling treats like melon and fruit; sprinkled down their run to cool off the dirt; put out extra waterers. You'll be able to get lots of help on the FL state thread to deal with any local issues that come up.
