i apoligize for spelling and grammer errors but this was written urgently as we are scared of something contagios in our flock.
today we found our male peacock laying next to his mates nest and we originally thought he was already dead back then because of how stiff he was but he was moving his beak slightly, we took him inside and he has pale looking eyes (hes white so they normally were almost black) with some slime around them simeilar to the "tears" you can see around a dogs eyes, he quickly becomes less and less able to move (we had to support his head) but had some sudden sezuire like movemnts and cpr was attempted but he died (its hard to say exactly when because he gradully moved less and less), when we used a flashlight we saw his throat was filled with a spit like slime substance and there were bubbles.
he was laying were we found him this morning but appeared fine, and we assumed he was just being protective of the peahen and has otherwise shown no signs of illnes, he was seen pooping yesterday and that looked normal, he has also walked outside the property yesterday wich he often does. the peahen is laying on overdue and assumed to not fertile eggs chicks, chicks from them have been hatched by incubator but were killed by him after my parents left them alone a moment.
we live in denmark an theese our only peafowl but they live with chickens.
