Hi all i have a new chick. She is supposedly 9-10wks and my husband thought they said its an isa brown cross leghorn, i thought they said orpington. We had our young son with us so we were a bit distracted.

I would like any opinions on breed and gender and age, i think she might be younger from pics ive looked at.

Many thanks :)

Phew!! I was scared "she" may be a rooster we have never had such a young chick before. She is very friendly, confident and curious so i was a bit worried. Im in love already. Sadly our shy but lovely, 1.5yr old wyandotte passed away suddenly

Rules were made to be broken. Get higher fences, as well as no trespassing signs, and more chickens.......

I think she looks the age stated, and she's a she.

She's not pure Orpington, but I could see her possibly being a mix. I'm not really seeing any Leghorn blood there, she's got such thick legs and a reasonably hefty frame. I'm not sure what an Orpington x ISA brown cross would look like, if that's on the table for parents or not, but I wouldn't rule that out.

Easiest thing would be to call the seller and ask. I have folks contact me all the time cause they can't remember what they bought, even when I write it down for them. It's no biggie, I want them to be happy and know what they have, even if it's a generic barnyard mix.

Thank you!! Im not too concerned, she just has a lovely personality. Our wyandotte was such a scaredy cat but was becoming more confident. I was devastated to lose her, she was so beautiful. Other than her we've only has isa browns so i dont know much about other breeds.
