New posted but not new to BYC! BYC has helped me so much with raising my new flock of chickens from day olds! It's no surprise that I am already addicted and guilty of chicken math. I am trying to purchase silkies that are around 3-5 months old to be pen mates for my silkie who wasn't accepted by my girls. Can anyone point me in the right direction I have been hunting and hitting dead ends. I getting frustrated. Thanks in advance!

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! Type ''See but don't touch method' into the search box and tons of links and articles for safely introducing new birds will pop up. I hope that will help you, and in the meantime, please make yourself at home here!

Thank you for the tip! I have done this for over a month now and it was an unfair fight. So I have built a second coop for the silkies but I need to purchase more to fill the new coop. :)

You could post on the "Silkie thread," - just put that in the search and it will pop up. You may also want to join your state thread - there may by BYCERS in your area that could advise you. You would still have to go through the integration process - not all silkies love each other at first sight. If they are raised together as young chicks - they should do fine.
But to be certain of sex you would need pullets at least 4-5 mos. old +

My friend got gorgeous silkies from a breeder in NY that was listed on the BYC Buy -sell- trade section, however she hasn't advertised since 2012 - I would imagine she either isn't breeding anymore or has chosen another means of selling.
