I would not be looking for show quality birds, but I'd still like to have some decent looking birds in my flock. Does MyPetChicken offer at least decent looking birds? I'm looking at some Barred Plymouth Rocks, Australorps, and a few Speckled Sussex. I'd like some Blue-Laced Red Wyandottes as well, though it seems like those are particularly hit-or-miss from someplace like MyPetChicken (as opposed to a devoted breeder of that variety). Anyone care to share some photos of your birds from MyPetChicken? Or is there a better source for bird breeds? Again, not looking for highest quality show birds, just want some pretty bird varieties in my yard.

MPC is a middleman, not a hatchery, and they get their birds from a variety of sources, including hatcheries and private breeders. There's no way to know the quality of the birds they sell because it can vary drastically between multiple sources. You could get some really nice birds, you could get some less than nice ones.

If you're looking for closeness to the standard and more "correct" versions of the breed, try Cackle Hatchery. Their birds always have at least decent type and color - nothing show winning, but much better than most hatcheries. They also perform well in terms of health and vigor.

Any other comments on MPC? Or suggestions for other places for ordering birds?
