Really? I am worried about them of course.. I'd rather not end anyone. I may have one lady interested but she was recommended by a store clerk and the lady just had a serious death in the family. I still have another one to rehome if that works out too. Is there somewhere specific I can post on here or the general free animal thing? I can't move my little flock to the coop till the weather gets a bit warmer and it's getting a little crowded around here.

Posting an add on here would be a good idea. I personally wouldn't put an add on Craigslist cuz there are some people on there who really just want chickens for the novelty (not to say that there aren't people who adore chickens on there). But mottled Cochin's are pretty rare as far as Cochin's go, and this is the time of year when people get chickens!

Question about this girl..

Would she be a blue or lavender?

Blue. There are lavender ameraucanas, but they are VERY rare. She might be considered a splash, but the whole blue/black/splash thing is super common with EEs.

Well, My 8 spent there first night in the tiny coop my wife bought for me. I was a bit worried but they settled in nicely and everyone is doing fine right now. OF course the sillies huddled on the ground in front of the coop last night so I had to crawl in the tiny run door to pick them up and then move around to the actual coop. LOL The coop that they'd actually stayed in most of the day and ran into whenever the wind blew... Go figure. Guess I should move the little Black Australorps in with them since they seem to be missing my big EE's. May be too young though since they're only 4 weeks old.

I'm in NE Ohio, it was in the 70's yesterday but snowed over the weekend.

Are you somewhere warmer?

Some of my chicks seem to have the grayish brown feathers like Idaho. Does that mean they might get red feathers? What did Idaho look like as a baby chick?

In this pic Idaho looks grey and brown but the light is a bit yellow. He is really all black and grey except for the new red bits. I have another ee that is gray and white with no sign of any red so far and I know that black and white as well as grey are often roosters but can be pullets too. Black and brown shouldn't mean anything, it's really common in the chicks. I have pics of Idaho formally Ida earlier in this thread if you check. They are all on my phone so I don't have them on hand right now. All three of my chicks seem to be a mix of black, white and grey so I am nervous in general. I'm only keeping one rooster.

Guess who got red patches on his shoulders today? That's right the newly renamed Idaho.

Haha! Nice name switch :gig :thumbsup
I honestly wouldn't be TOO sure about rooster just yet... But then again I can see all oh him/her so go with your gut ;)

Frosty, with EEs it is impossible to tell what colors they'll be as adults. Lemme get a pic of Suzzie...
