November 2016 hatch-a-long...

Why??... beacause we just can't stop!

If you are incubating and/or hatching in November, just post and tell us about it!

I have some cute Silkies due early November and will probably have more later in the month!

Sweet! Easter eggers are so pretty!
They are. I love the color variety. I only have two or three that are laying blue eggs, so 10 of the eggs are blue. I'm hoping maybe that will up their chances of laying blue eggs. One hen keeps laying this oddly roundish egg, so I want to see what comes out of one of those. Then another egg lays a light brown with brown speckles, so I want to see what comes out of that. Not all my hens are americauna/easter egger, but the rooster is supposed to be americauna.

I can't wait until my silkies start laying. I really love silkie babies. They'll be six months old the beginning of November.

I just have had a couple Easter Eggers but I really like the lavender americaunas! I really like lavender! I should (perhaps?) try to control myself :D

My young lavender silkies will be six months in December, but where you are, is it warm enough that they will start laying? I wonder when mine will. I had some pullets not lay until 8+ months old recently. They actually waited till the end of Summer, and they were hatched on New Years!

I don't have any lavenders, but those are really pretty. I ended up with mostly roosters when I got these last ones last year and kept who I thought was the prettiest. I don't know official color names, he's black and brown.

And I've read silkies take longer to mature, so I'm impatiently waiting. The showgirl rooster who is the same age has been trying to breed them since 4 months. :p My younger girls (not silkies since I don't have grown ones) do lay through winter. The ones on their second fall, molt and then eventually start laying again.

I set 42 eggs on Sunday (10/16); due to hatch on 11/6. They are a mix: Swedish Ishbars, Lavender Orpington and some EEs.

I also set 5 garden varieties due to hatch next week (10/28). Rooster is a mixed Light Braham and the hens are golden comets, barred rock and grey brahma bantam.

The ones I'm most curious about are from a mixed Light Braham (roo) and a Grey Braham Batam (hen). I've got 2 eggs in the first batch and 4 in the second. 5 days and already signs of life! It's a good thing, too, because something got my Light Braham rooster yesterday :(

Good luck to everyone! Looking forward to updates and pics!

Oh, sorry about your roo! Brahmas are so beautiful, I hope they all hatch for you!
Sounds like you have lots of fun stuff cooking!

Yes, we just can't stop! I have eight Silver Laced Wyandotte eggs in the incubator, expecting a Veteran's Day hatch. I guess I'll have to call the roos "Patton," "McArthur," "Eisenhower"...

I think the Silver-Laced Wyandottes are some of the prettiest large-breed hens, and they are good layers, winter-hardy and sweet tempered. Hoping for a good hatch!

Yes. Liver laced Wyandotte are gorgeous! I bought 2 from MPC on 10/5. They are cute chicks, too!

Thank you darkbluespace. And yes, lots of fun stuff here!!
