Unhatched eggs

About 10 days ago 4 eggs out 15 hatched. Since then the Hen is only taking care of the 4 chicks and rarely sits on the other eggs. What should I do with unhatched eggs? Do I remove them or just leave them in the nest?

In the future, you can possibly prevent this. What likely happened is the eggs were added after she began brooding, resulting in what's called a staggered hatch. When a hen goes broody, I like to mark all the eggs I want her to hatch with a sharpie, and give them to her all at once. I then check under her every day or so, and remove any non-Sharpie'd eggs that another hen may have donated. That way, all the eggs are due to hatch at the same time, over a 2 day period usually.

congrats on your chicks, though. Watching momma raise babies is one of the coolest parts of chicken keeping!
