I bought some fertile eggs of Golden Comets to hatch in my incubator at school. I now know that the sex-link trait is lost on the second generation because I raised up what looked to be 3 pullets and 1 cockrel was in fact 1 pullet and 3 cockrels. I now have the 1 hen bearing the golden comet traits and 1 roo, white with black tail feathers. Here is my question: Since they are so genetically different, would there be problems with hatching their eggs even though they are technically siblings?

So I am wondering...Dr I ask this question on the wrong board? Was it a really dumb question? Or Does no one know the answer?

You will have nothing more than mixed breed chickens and all the chicks produced will look different.

ah ok you have chickens from original hatch, chances are great they are not all from the same hen right. Breeding those chickens which had same sire will not give you defective offspring as they are only half related. I have bred mother to son, father to daughter, brother to sister etc with no impact, it is when you do this type of breed for extented time that you will see impact.

Thank you. I thought this was the case especially since they are so physically different. It seems their genetic makeup is not that similar, but what do I know.
