Can you tell the difference between a hen or a roo egg?

I have heard that a person can tell if the egg will give a hen or a roo by the shape of the egg. A hen will have a more oval shape and a roo will have a more pointy end. Is there any truth to this? I really would like to control the roo population. I don't like to have to dispatch if I can prevent it, but I have plenty of roos and don't need any more.
 
Thanks, I will continue to incubate all eggs then not just the oval looking ones
