We have 4 hens and 1 rooster. 2 days ago we noticed the hen's combs were changing colors and decreased laying. No feed changes, always have clean water, plenty of room to forage in our yard, coop cleaned weekly, no known "stressful" incidents recently. 2 of the hens are worse than the others. Our rooster's comb looks normal. We are new to this so any advice or opinions are appreciated!

I can't tell much from the pictures, but pecking or injury to the comb can cause discoloration. Mite infestation can cause brownish-black areas on the comb. Other causes could be a fungal disease called favus, or in extreme cold temperatures near zero, frostbite.Favus usually is whitish areas on the comb, wattles, or face. I am including a few pictures of favus which can be treated with antifungal creams such as clotrimazole (lotrimin) and miconazole (Monistat7.) Also at the bottom is a picture of possible mite infestation causing bloddy areas.
