Unfortunately, where I can't get to her, so I don't know which day to expect them or how many she is sitting on.

But she looks good when I see her for a few minutes around 3 most afternoons.

It just so happened that I had some eggs in an incubator and the day the first one hatched I spent all day with it of course and when I went to shut the chickens up that night lemon was in the nest that night and has been there ever since so I knew exactly what day she started sitting and she gets off for about 30 mins a day so I went in the coop and counted and marked all the eggs because unfortunately she went broody in the hens favorite nesting box so other hens still try and get in with her to lay. I take them out and move them to other boxes to in courage the other hens to lay there instead!!

IMO, 27 eggs is too many for one hen to handle.
In nature, it would be 8-12 in a normal clutch.
I would cull it down to a more manageble amount or you chance her not being able to property warm & turn them. Could end up with very few hatching

Hey there erin lynn Lemon is a cutie!

Wow, 27 eggs!

I also have to ask, is she managing to cover them all? Are they bantam eggs? My Silkie was flat out trying to cover 7 bantam eggs and my Pekin [bantam Cochin] only just managed to cover 8 bantam eggs.

Poor girl if they all hatch .. she is in for a fun time keeping an eye on 27 chicks .. lol

Good luck for the big day and please let us know how many you get?

Can you try counting, or get an idea of number of eggs when she takes her afternoon stroll?

My silkie Sat on 9 last time and hatched 7--she Sat on 3 of her own, 2 Leghorn and 4 Australorp mix. All 3 silkies hatched, plus one leghorn and 3 Australorp mix. The other 2eggs I dared open and they were very spoiled.
I couldn't imagine covering more and I may have given her too many.
What breed is Lemon mixed with? You said silkie mix, with what else? Larger size can help cover more!
