Beak damage?

We had some chickens donated to us two days ago. We've noticed something not quite right with this one chicken. Its beak looks damaged, possibly broken? and not sure what to do. Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Many th anks

My guess is that she may have been "debeaked" or beak trimmed at some point. If she was a production hen, it happens quite a bit so that they can live in over crowded conditions and not hurt each other with pecking. There is much debate on the practice. You can google it and find lots of pictures. If it was just broken at some point it would probably gradually grow back out. If she was debeaked, I don't think it will grow back.
If she is able to eat and drink well, it should be OK. If she has trouble, then you may have to provide more support to keep her healthy. I know that some feed mash to these birds as it's easier for them to pick up. Also keeping the feed dish about chest high helps them scoop up food. I'd watch her, make sure she can eat and drink, and monitor her weight. If she's a bit cross-beaked, you can make accommodations for that also, and the link I gave you before explains that, under scissor beak, and how to trim, if necessary. Debeaked birds sometimes develop some scissor or cross beak due to the nature of the 'injury'. Not knowing her real history, other than she was donated, that's my best guess. She looks like she has cross beak. It doesn't look severe though, as long as she is eating and drinking fine, she should okay

I've managed to dig my trof out so i can make mash up for her and her sister's. I have seen her have a peck at it so hopefully in time she'll be ok.
That debeaking thing looks gross from doing a search. I'll have a closer look at her after and see what's she like.

Put a rock or bricks in the run..Chickens need to hone their beaks...It does look like cross beak....Natural honing materials help...
