Well my guinea called paleface would not come in last night and here it is 3 am and I stll can't find her.I am worried about owls raccoons and coyotes.Oh what a heartbreak these little ones are.Sorry for the rant.Wish me luck at daybreak.
 
How old is she? Mine stopped roosting with the chickens at about 3 months old. Never have slept indoors since. They prefer trees or high beams in barns, tops of houses, etc. They are very good at finding a place to roost away from predators. My mom even had one on top of a grain bin one morning after a coyote was lurking.

Best wishes come morning! Hopefully she was just hiding for the night, testing out a new roost...
 
Well she came home and wanted to be feed She is missing tailfeathers .We shall see what tonight brings.Love my birds but she needs not to scare me s:hmmh she is about three months old and will not find her way over a chainlinked fence but will fly over my house????? What is up with that??

I'm glad she come home this morning. I bet you were happy to see her. They pick and choose what they can fly over. Who knows the mind of a guinea. I think they are smarter then they act.

Lol they're sneaky like that ;) That, and they will learn pretty quick how to fly up to safety once they learn that there are predators on the ground... She'll get over that chain link and up on the coop before long ;)


Glad she made it back ok! Sounds like something might have almost snagged her so she got up and stayed put til she knew she was safe.

I agree; I have the same issue with turkeys, and once in a while, a hen or two will roost in the trees. I have to walk them into the coop before bedtime and lock them in or they will get up in trees where I can't reach them. I guess that's one drawback of owning a bunch of birds lol :D

Locked everyone up an hour early.I didn't want her yelling her head off because she was alone.What a bunch of spoiled brats.But happy all are safe.I had two llamas delivered yesterday to help with the coyotes in the area.They were here lest than a half an hour and were charging something in the yard and chased it to the fence line.Love my llamas they get so protective of the property and even protect my birds.They were raised with chickens.
 
Well paleface has started limping on her left leg.Would leave her in her yard with a couple of other gentle guineas or just let her free range .I know if I leave her alone she will go nuts.They say they are hardy birds but still concerned.I can see no injury to the leg ,but first bunch of guineas i have had.
