Can I use pigeon grit for my chickens?

I went and bought a bag of grit for my girls today and the feed store recommended a 50 lb bag of pigeon grit to save money. They said that it was fine to use it for my chickens. Have you tried it, and has it worked for you? It is smaller than the grit I normally use and has oyster shell mixed into it. Will this be sufficient for my girls?
 
Grit for full grown chickens should look like this. Too small will not effectively grind up whole grains/seeds.

I agree with GC-Raptor. Pigeon grit is too small to help any chicken over about 6 weeks of age. It will pass right through the gizzard. It needs to be much larger to lodge in there to aid in grinding feed.
Additionally, IMHO grit and oyster shell should be separate so chickens can choose whether they need help grinding feed or more calcium.
My best advice is to not take advice from feed store employees. (no offense to those who actually know a lot about chickens but most of them don't)
 
Thank all of your very much for the advice. I ended up returning it and buying my normal bag of grit (that was much smaller and almost just as expensive :'( lol). Thank u again!
