Lost my white peahen

Is treating for worms this way more of a precautionary measure to prevent or used after you have discovered worms in their droppings. Their droppings so far have always looked normal but they are free range so the chances of various worms is possible. The females I have came from a lady NW of me in northern MI who told me she had a bird die from worms in its gizzard I'm guessing is what she was refereeing to, the bird couldn't breath due the worms were so bad choked its air way closed, so this is a different type of worm is it ? or will this same drug you recommend kill them worms before they kill possibly my birds.

The worms she was referring to were Gape worms. Round and cecal worms can be treated with a one-day dosage of Fenbendazole and repeated in ten days. Gapeworms take five days treatment and followed up in ten days with five more days. They live in the trachea and can be fished out on a Q-Tip and look like tiny red threads.

The only worms that are visible in droppings are roundworms and if tapeworms are really bad you will see segments, but no other worms are large enough to see with the naked eye.

I have found it very rare to find roundworms in droppings, the only time I have is after treating. Most people do not run fecal exams to determine if their birds have worms, I do and only treat when needed. If you don't know if you have worms you should have a regular schedule of deworming before breeding season and after the weather turns cold.

The weather here is good n cold thats for sure , Does Fenbendazole only treat and kill Gape worms ? Or will treating with it be good enough for the year or Is that the first worm I should be treating them for followed up by one of the other chems you recommended as well
