My ducks first spring!

Thanks! They're Pekin/Runner...dad's still in the (garage) brooder wearing his "footie" made of Vetrap until his bumble fully heals. I was really puzzled by their coloring at first, but another BYCer who has the same crosses said theirs had the same coloration. Must be the mallard genes.

The snow stopped for a while and started to melt, but it picked back up and I suspect we'll get a decent accumulation tonight. Are you hoping for snow or no?
After I posted I was thinking that was what you had. Glad to hear dad is healing .

Yes we're excited for snow. We usually have snow before now but we've been in drought since spring. Hoping this will really help.

What part of the country are you in?

Thanks...dad's foot doesn't have a scab anymore, but it's still pink and I know he'd open it right back up trying to keep up with his brood.

I'm in central KY. The weather has been bizarre lately - it's been in the upper 60s recently, now this. I don't think the yo-yoing is good for anyone...it should be cold here in winter! I like having 4 distinct seasons, so it's a bummer when winter feels like a late-running fall or early spring.

Hope some of the snow comes your way!

It's been the same here really crazy just 2 days ago we were in the 50's. Now we're going to be in the polar plunge and be in the single digits a few nights with highs only in the 20's It's really hard for any of to get adjusted with these ups and downs.

We've had the same.... last night I was throwing piles of new shavings in my duck houses for the cold.
Last week it felt like spring!!!

It was mid 60s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today was cold though, and I had to work outside all day :/

Boiling water in the pellets. The pellets will cool the water down fast, so they can eat right away
