I use shelf liner on the bottom of my incubator so there little legs don't go throw the square holes

I have used no-slip rubber matts before. They're cheap at family dollarIs there any chance of injury on 1/4" hardware cloth? Just checking in case I should put something over it at lock down.

My button quail didn't seem to have any trouble on it, and those chicks are *way* smaller than these coturnixes..
Hi @bug n flock. If button quail have no probs with it then chicken chicks must be okay then. I'm figuring this incubation stuff out and wanted to ask what everyone uses for a floor. Apologies if it sounded like I was poo-pooing your 'bator. Did the half shell come of that one's butt?

And yeah it did but I ended up having to help. He was not attached to the shell at all but the membrane had dried so it was like a clam shell I had to pry off him.
