We have a 2 year old hen that we have been treating for a cough and wheezing with 150cc of Tylan 50 every day and we're on the 4th or 5th day, and Sav-A-Chick probiotics & electrolytes in her water.

Today we went to give her the shots, and her wattle was swollen. I've searched and none of the links I've found have mentioned the swelling in relation to being treated for an illness, so I am unsure if we should try giving her 2 Benedryl. Pictures attached.

Yes. There's no signs of swelling inside her mouth or throat. We're not sure what she has, her only symptoms started out as a cough/wheeze. I have no idea where my uncle got her from, I just know she's a 2 yrs old Burbon Red I named Anne.

Yes, we are giving her probiotics. We're not sure what to give her because we don't know what she has.

Update: The swelling had gone down a bit this morning. We crushed 2 benadryl and put them in a syringe with water. When we opened her mouth to give it to her, there was a bit of swelling towards the back. We came back at the end of feeding, and checked her again. The swelling had gone down a bit more and there didn't seem to be any swelling in the back of her mouth.

We've taken her off probiotics & electrolytes and stopped giving her any other medicine.

Any ideas or shall we give her a couple more benadryl tomorrow?
