Help needed - chick attacked

The pen is 5 m x 2.5 m. The coop can house 10-12 chicks. The aggressor is a speckledy hen. I have a blue bell, a black rock, a Orpington and a rir roo. I'm sure it will have happened in the coop overnight. The injured one has been seperated since i found the injury. It will stay that way till it's healed. I'm not sure if they are bored. I think it's just that I have an aggressive chick.
I believe you have given the dimensions of your run (pen). What is the size of the COOP (L x W x H), and can you describe what is in it for perch space, and location of the perch? (length, diameter, space between perch and back wall, ceiling and floor of the coop.)

If you are stating the dimension of your run, that is too small for your existing birds. You have 12.5 sq. meters = 41 sq. feet in the run. That is big enough for 4 birds in the run, assuming they are all female. IMO, if you have a roo, you should double that amount of space. Your run needs to be big enough that there can be multiple levels (hay bales, stumps, perhaps a perch) so the birds can move out of the same plane as their aggressor, and get out of sight.

If I am misinterpreting your post, and the stated size is related to your coop, my apologies. Manufacturers often misrepresent their product, and while they state that their coop will hold 10 - 12 birds, that is not often the case, resulting in behavioral issues, cannibalism, and other difficulties for the poultry owner.

I like the idea of the hay bail. Attached is pics of the coop I have. I really do think there is enough room in there. There are 4 perches that are 60cm wide. I can't really do much about my pen. It is 12.5m2. I guess they could become bored. Any ideas on how to reduce this? Also attached is a pic of my pen.

I went to the manufacturer site, and could not find the model you have. Without you providing the amount of floor space in the COOP, it is not possible for anyone to help you. Based on what I'm seeing, you are destined to continue to have escalating problems with aggression in your flock, especially with a rooster confined to that space. Even with one roo and 5 hens, he is going to overbreed them. That can result in injury. Those girls have no way to get away from him. I believe that crowding is your major issue.

Here's the product link... https://www.chickencoopsandhouses.co.uk/cc10002N.html

Coop itself looks to be about 40" x 40" (100 x 100cm)...way too small for 6 birds IMO.
Typical prefab coop...too small and just a bad design.

I'd strongly suggest you reduce the number of birds you have down to 3 or maybe 4.
Putting some diversions in the run is always a good idea....log, stumps, roosts, pallets leaned up against walls or up on concrete blocks, old chairs, tables etc.
Anything to get up and away from other birds or out of direct line of sight....wide open bare spaces are 'boring' and there's no place to 'hide'.

The coop is 154cm x 100 cm width and length not sure about floor space. I've attached a pic of the inside. When I see the birds inside it seems to have plenty of space. . There are 6 nest boxes. That run pic was when I had finished it. I have bricks stumps and perches now.
I got a larger coop for the very reason you mentioned. I was obviously mid sold the coop or at least the size.
I do have a 16 week old rir roo. Do they breed at this age. He will be going in coming weeks as I don't want to upset the neighbors.
I have no witnessed any violent behaviour apart from the new Pol speckled hen having the odd go at the others. I feel she just went too far this time. They have all been together for 4 weeks and there have been no injuries.
I do appreciate all the advice. I am new to this and have done everything with research.
But maybe I need a few tweaks

The 154 x 100cm includes the nests....which aren't counted when calculating 'floor space'.

Ok. The run/pen is 128 square feet, minus the coop area. Is this sufficient ?
I'll have to look into getting another coop.
I monitored the chicks tonight after going in. It seemed the aggressive one took up a position near the door and certainly had a slight go at the leghorn as she entered. Once they were all settled they all seemed quite spread out. But maybe more space is better

Pen/run looks fine for size.......more space is always better.

I wold suggest that you remove the dividers in the nests on one side and put your feed and water there.
6 birds don't need 6 nests and that will open up some room in the coop.

Do you have 6 females and the 1 male?
