yahooooooooo! alas, fertility! the girls picked up laying, so I decided to throw some eggs in the bator - 4 days later - at least 25% fertility! hey, i'll take that over 0%!! now if they just make it to hatch......

my egg turner is dead, so I have to hand turn. ugh. my first time hand turning was nightmarish in that for whatever reason, MANY of my hatches pipped on the wrong end of the egg. I was able to save most, if not all of them, but still. ugh.

I will do what I have to do! :) in the meantime, get here soon egg turner (I ordered one :)
Correction! A 'LEAST" 57% fertility! I can definitely see 4 out of 7 eggs developing. SO excited! Almost gave up on them.

Yay! Hopefully they'll all 4 hatch!

That would be awesome, but, I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch. LOL At least I now know that Lil Daddy is connecting with his girls. Maybe trimming the hen's hineys DID help.

I have a pair of Silver Laced Orpington x Whiting True Blue crosses that are adorable. I'm very curious if they will have lacing or not, and what their egg color will be.

They do have, so far, black and white "speckling" on their chest.

I remember when my SLO chicks hatched a year ago, and I thought the breeder may have given me the wrong breed because there was no lacing at all, but they laced out beautifully. So, in light of that, I wonder if my mixes will end up with SOME lacing, or maybe overall/more speckling?

I bet they'll be beautiful. As far as egg color, I'd guess it'd be green given the blue of the Whitings mixed with light brown of the Orps.
