I have had many molting chickens, and i'm sure several more will be starting up.
I was not sure on what to do,but I knew feathers needed protein. I had a choice between actual feed made for the purpose of molting, show bird feed, and meat bird feed.I believe my 1st option cost more, but I remember reading that meat bird feed had 22% protein ,and not only that it said many other things do to helping their health and immune systems (No one wants toe at a unhealthy bird). Now I do note at mine, but I defiantly want the to be healthy.I figured scratch, all flock (mixed with meat birds feed),and occasional meal worms would help feather growth, and figured they could all get a bit "fatter" during this period of lots of protein.
What do you think?
