Dogs and cookie dough

http://www.petmd.com/dog/chocolate-toxicity

a good rule of thumb calculator. Some dogs,of course, have a much lower threshold than others but 99.9% are going to be ok with the amount your's ingested. You can always make them vomit to remove from the system if you are worried about it. (not this late, of course lol). You're likely to have a dog with a grumbly tummy and maybe some diarrhea.

This is another good source about chocolate toxicity. Likely, that amount won't affect your dog much since he is so large, but it is a good idea to keep and eye on him and follow up with a vet if you notice anything out of the ordinary. Every dog is somewhat different and the amount of a toxic substance that doesn't affect one may be very bad for another.

Cocoa powder and dark or semi-sweet chocolate is the worst. Each type of chocolate contains a different amount of cocoa per mg, which is important to know when calculating toxic doses. In those cookies, they likely used semi-sweet baking morsels.

Every recipe I have seen or baked for Tollhouse cookies uses semi-sweet chocolate chips (a.k.a. 'dark chocolate'). so it's probably safe to say the pre-mixes do as well. However even the recipes on the bags of chips call for only the contents of that one 1lb. bag, so I seriously doubt they would put more in a premix. And as others have pointed out chocolate, even semi-sweet, is only a small part cocoa, the rest is milk, sugar, and various food oils.

Exactly! It's a bit excessive. And yes...the higher the cacao, the more toxic. I'm opposite...I LOVE the dark stuff! But still...there's no way your guy could eat enough chocolate to affect him much, I don't imagine. I don't care how much you love chocolate! Lol

My brother loves dark chocolate too but we don't really eat much chocolate anyway.

And yeah, exactly, that is a LOT of chocolate lol

He's basically the size of a person or small horse

Thanks for the info and the great links everyone! Definitely useful.

And I'm glad there's not too much chocolate in these things.

He seems perfectly fine this morning. He even saved the chickens last night haha
