Best way to trim spurs

I like to use dog nail clippers or a dremel to trim the spurs into a dull end so they won't be so sharp as to injur the hens. I had one rooster whose spurs got ripped off last year, and when they grew back they grew into the backs of both legs. They were so thick that I could not get even wire cutters to trim them, so I ended up twisting both off with pliers down to the nubs. There was no bleeding, and he did not seem in pain when I put him on the roost. So I will probably use that method in the future.

Ok, well I better purchase a dremel as of now I guess I'll use my large dog nail trimmers. It makes me a nervous wreck because I'm so new to chickens lol. Plus my rooster hates to be touched and I have to chase him but he is faster and I can not get him. Maybe grab him off the roost in the morning you think? Thank you so much for the reply!!!
If I have to do anything at all to my rooster, I wait until he is on the roost at dusk.

Ok my husband caught him and I used my big dog nail trimmers. His spurs are so hard and thick I didn't think they was going to cut! So I just cut the pointed tips! I hope that's good enough? I'm doing it for my poor hens safety

Something I did was get a potato boil it until it's soft enough to put his spur into it let it's soften when soft you can gently pull the outer casing of his spur off with pliers by twisting back and forth gently then let him rest up in a cat cage or cage of some sort before placing him back with his girls to avoid them picking on him

oh they are fine but I think he has hurt them pretty good or something because they are scared to death be in the run with him they try to fly and everything to get away. I checked them over and I didn't see anything.
