Hello Everyone,

I am getting the Brinsea Mini Advance incubator today and I know that you have to fill a little holder with water to ensure humidity. I live in a very humid country (average humidity 70-80%) and I was wondering if I should fill up the water or not. Please let me know about your experiences and any other tips are welcome! I am really excited and I am planning to incubate silkie / Serama eggs or barnyard mixes!

Thanks!

I'd be inclined to run it "dry" first and see what humidity levels you are getting. If its below your desired level, then add water.

Doesn't the Advance model have a built in hygrometer ?- I'm fairly sure that the Advance models do. But its always good to get a hygrometer (but I have never bothered with my Brinsea) to compare readings.

There are 3 levels of Brinsea Mini.. and only the very pricey ex model has humidity read out. Usually though putting some in half according to instruction would work. You can also watch for condesation. If you start to see it quite a bit such as in the upper part of the motor stem and on high areas of the view area, then I think it's about 80% + which is too high.. It should be so there may be a tiny bit of condensation..

We just got our Brinsea Mini Advance, we won it in a contest...so eggcited to try it out! My last incubator was a wooden box with a sponge, so this is quite an upgrade. LOL
