This is my first hatch two have hatched seemed to be doing fine. I took them out of the incubator and put them in the brooder after 10 mins they started to peep very loudly and started gasping for air and flopping over. I have them some water and than put them back in the incubator. They seem to be doing a little better. Not sure what went wrong or if they will be ok. Does anyone know what could cause them to gasp for air and flop on their sides?

Sorry, I put them in the brooding box 6 hours after hatch and they were only in the brooding box for 10 mins before they started gasping for air

Ok.. I'm not sure... sometimes they have trouble if they don't assorb the yolk properly. . But both? 2 out of 2. Makes me think maybe brooder is too hot... try raising light?

Ok thanks I will try that tomorrow. For tonight I am just going to leave them in the incubator since they seem to be doing better.
Thanks for your quick replies.

Oh another quick question. How long can they stay in the incubator before they need to come out for food and water?

When they assorb yolk that gives them all they need to last 3 days.. this gives the hen time to hatch all before leaving nest...
I usally pull mine after few hours .. I always try to bump humidity up a bit before lifting corner to get them... humidity is important for the unhatched eggs

Thank you so much. I am a nervous wreck hoping that I didn't already kill them. Hoping they are still alive in the morning. And hoping my other three eggs hatch soon.
