Hello, this may be beyond my help but, my duck Clara got attacked by an animal the night of last.
The tendon connecting the wing to the body has been severed. I haven't noticed any broken bones either. The skin below the wing (wing pit?) has been ripped off so now there is exposed muscle.
I would have sewn the skin up but it is entirely ripped off. I washed it with iodine water and applied Neosporine.
I then put gauze over the wound, taped it on with medical tape, and secured it in vet wrap.
she seems rather shocked at the moment, and her wing is hanging to the ground.
Is there anything i should do? Is helping this duck beyond my capabilities?

Thank you for your answers!!!

. Vet appointments for a duck would be upwards of $85 and that is just for them to have a look see. it would probably end up being quite pricey. I will consult my parents about the matter but, they will most likely say no, especially b/c it is almost Christmas and they've spent lots of money. there is no bone showing thankfully. If you have anything to add it will be much appreciated :).

I had a pullet suffer a tear to the skin of her breast that left a very large flap of skin hanging, leaving muscle and fat exposed. I sprayed it 2-3 times a day with Vetericyn (keeping her in a crate so she couldn't move too much) and it healed completely, including an area around her leg where there would be a lot of movement.

The torn wing tendon is more concerning to me. If it was my duck and veterinary care was not an option, I would try to support/immobilize the wing to facilitate healing and prevent further injury, i.e., wrapping with Vetrap to keep it up in a more normal position. If you do wrap it, you'll need to check it periodically to ensure the wound is healing properly, so re-wrapping will be required. This site describes wrapping a broken wing but may still be helpful: http://www.hobbyfarms.com/how-to-treat-a-duck-with-a-broken-wing/. Just be prepared - she may not regain normal use of her wing with that type of injury, even if the wounds appear to heal.

Best of luck to you and Clara.
