My name is Linda. I just got done watching Justin Rhodes' Permaculture Chickens video and was really excited about acquiring a small urban flock. Then I discovered through BYC that my town will not allow poultry as they are considered a nuisance animal. I live in Canonsburg, PA. At some point down the road, I may talk to my neighbors about getting a variance. No just yet though. I need to do some fencing first. One of my neighbors had ducks so I don't think it'll be a big deal. I may also just keep quail on the porch. We'll see how it goes. Thank you all for being there with helpful suggestions.

I am amazed that chickens are classified as a nuisance; they would be no moreso than wandering dogs and cats and or loud caged birds that are probably on the OK list.

I wish you luck in getting the laws changed.
