What did they send me?

So I got an order of frypan chickens chicks and I am curious on what the hatchery may have went me. Most of them are black with very pale yellow markings. Three of them are just plain yellow and two are like a reddish tan on top with fair dark lines on the backs and yellow undersides.


I don't really care what gender they are even though they are supposed to be all male. Some of the black ones have interesting facial markings. Let me know if you need more pictures.

Where did you get them? I think you may have some Barred Rocks and Australorps. Also you may have (the red ones maybe) Rhode Island Reds or Red Rangers

The black ones with white spots on the back of the head could be Barred Rocks or Black sexlink cockerels. The yellow chicks could be Buff Orpingtons or Red sexlink cockerels. The reds could be red broilers, Dixie Rainbows, Rhode Island Reds, or Production Reds.

I got them from Meyer Hatchery.
Their description said, "Golden Buff, Rhode Island Red, Jersey Giant, Salmon Faverolles, Speckled Sussex, Marans, Welsummer, Black Australorp, Plymouth Rock, Orpington, Wyandotte, Buckeye, Dominique or any heavy breed rooster we offer."

I think the possible ones you got are Rhode Island Red, Golden Buff, Black Australorp, Plymouth Rock, Dominique, or Orpington. Black ones with a white face (but no dot) could be Australorps or Jersey Giants (Australorps have white/pinkish skin under their foot while Jersey Giants have yellow).

So is this pink or yellow?

Too young to tell. It can take a few weeks to see true skin color.

I certainly wouldn't mind having a Jersey Giant or two.
