May have solved problem of hen laying in the wrong place

I have a young hen who insisted on laying her eggs over the fence in the neighbor's yard. I collected them but this didn't dissuade her each time she returned and found the nest empty.

I've put her and her eggs in a large dog cage in the hopes she will sit on the eggs. She appears to be doing this as she is supposed to. The reason I went to this trouble is because she laid a clutch, again in an inappropriate place, and I had to remove them and put them in the coop. She never sat on the eggs in the coop and became depressed about that her clutch has disappeared. REALLY!
 
I have had luck putting a big log in their nest so they can't sit in them. Sometimes they just sit next to the log so I add another, most times it breaks them especially if they have gone broody already.

Mine don't seem to mind the eggs disappearing until it goes on for a week or two, than they will switch to somewhere else. I have used fake chicken eggs to lure them to nest areas.

Glad you got her to move, turkeys can be so stubborn.

Good to see you here. Yes, they are stubborn. I wonder if you had any thoughts on when I should let her out of the kennel. Hopefully, after a few days she's got the idea that she is sitting on eggs! She is dutifully pulling them under herself as she should. I'm afraid if I open the door she will head back over to the neighbors. Maybe I'm not giving her enough credit.
 
I might try a couple of days than see. Maybe she's placating you.

Hi there. I am feeding, watering etc in the cage. She's been in there since Saturday. I don't see any newly laid eggs and she is sitting on the eggs the way she is supposed to. The only problem with leaving her in is that she can't really stretch properly and dust bathe. Also, it's inconvenient to me since I have to get up early to open the garage for the other birds when they get up.
I'm prepared to let her out--I don't really need more turkeys--I'm doing it for her because she keeps laying and I keep moving the eggs.

I have read midget whites are the best layers. She sure is persistent at it. Hopefully she's done for a while. We are freezing here. Expecting -35 wind chills tonight.
