Worried about shivering chickens and sudden drop in temperature

Thanks! She was much better today. Didn't lay yesterday but it was fah-reezing and she just started laying this week so I'm not surprised. They all seem pretty cozy with the pine shavings in there. It's a lot messier though, still trying to come up with a good way to keep it nice and clean - maybe a variation of the deep litter method but it's a small coop with only 4 chickens so I worry about the air quality.

So the temps cited in your first post were Centigrade not Fahrenheit???

Best to always use C or F when citing temps.......and/or add your location to your profile.

A closed waterer is great for reducing added humidity...not a good time of year to train to nipples but....
....keep this mind for the future:

Thanks, I didn't notice I could add a location and figured it was a primarily US forum so I converted to Farhenheit. In Celcius that's practically be t-shirt weather over here!

Good to know about the nipple waterers and humidity. They may be open to it - and even if not I can always keep it til spring. I wonder if they make them heated though - I have the distinct feeling we're in for a long, cold winter
