I'm from a little town near Lexington, KY. I've been wanting some chickens of my own ever since I helped care for my nephew's chickens and fell in love! I am finally in a location where I can have a small coop, and bought one today! The coop I bought will house 4 - 6 chickens, which is all I can have in town anyway. I'm assuming at this point that it would be best if I wait until Spring to actually get the chickens. I'm looking forward to getting to learn from all of you!

Nice! Welcome to the BYC flock, it is great to have you here :)
Will you be getting chicks or full grown chickens? Here is a great place for learning about chicks and hatching them:
Hatching Eggs And Raising Chicks - BackYard Chickens Community
And here is even more about chickens:

Welcome and Happy New Year!

Best wishes for your soon to be chicken parenting.

I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
