"Alrighty, let's get started. Just try to stay awake the best you can for right now, alright? But I think pretty soon you'll be able to sleep."

She lifted his shirt above his stomach and cringed at the large, purple bruise that had formed there.

She had planned on just pressing around on his stomach and having him tell her where it was really hurting from the pressure, but it had become obvious where the pain was coming from. It was visible.

"Oh God. Well, that made finding the problem a whole lot more easier, I suppose."

Hopefully it was just the shock of the obvious blow that had been directed towards his stomach that was causing him pain. But, she was a woman, and she knew how terrible that kind of pain could be, and she didn't want it to get any worse, so he would at least get some medication.

"What kind of pain are you feeling right now? Is it throbbing, stabbing? Any way you could explain it?"
"Mm, hm." He managed, slowly inhaling a deep breath. Usually he wouldn't mention being in pain, but right now Aya was willing to help him, and if he could humble himself enough, he would realize how badly he needed her help. "The pain's, sharp. It becomes worse in waves." He explained heavily. "And.. it hurts, when I breath."

Aya nodded as she listened closely to his explanation.

"Okay..." She paused for a few moments in thought, "Okay, alright. We're going to have to do a CT scan, I think, to really determine how bad the damage is. Though, I consider it to be quite expensive, so do you recall any memories of how you would have been damaged in that area so we could possibly avoid it? How were you hit, because it could just be very sore from any sort of impact. And if that is so, then I would like to simply give you pain meds and get to the more important issue that is your head. We would still monitor bleeding in that area, of course."

Devine didn't understand how explaining how he'd been hurt would help Aya determine whether there was internal damage, but he wasn't able to clear his made to think it through. "They just punched my gut and sides." He explained instead, quickly adding under-breath: "a lot." Aya seemed very concerned with his head being possibly damage, but up until this moment that hadn't even been a thought. His whole body hurt, and for him it seemed to blend together. But now thinking of it as a separate issue his head did hurt; there was a throbbing headache and was sensitive to touch.

"Okay. To avoid giving you any unnecessary costs, I think I'll just monitor your bleeding and if it stops, the pain will eventually stop too. Your body is just suffering from the shock of the blows its been given. Staying still and drugged is probably the most comfortable option for you."

Aya tapped her fingers on the small nightstand sitting next to the hospital bed, and turned to the door.
"I'm going to go fetch a few things. Just give me a moment, and please don't get out of bed and get into another fight." She said the last statement with some sarcastic humor in her tone and walked out of the room.

Devine managed a smile at her last statement. He shifted to find a more comfortable position but his body was too heavy, and he did not have the strength to move it. Sleepily he rested his head against the wall, hoping he could hold on to conscious until Aya came back.
