2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Incubator arrived today. We are hoping to convince our goose that it is time to set and want to start incubation at the same time. Unfortunately we lost our gander last week so she only has a few days of fertility left. We are going to let her hatch about half a dozen eggs because we don't want her to have too big a brood to watch after with no help, and we are going to attempt to hatch the rest ourselves. Wish us luck!

Happy Spring all! North Central WI isn't sure it's that time. So far I have 8 (out of 12 that were set) Sebastopol eggs in the incubator. Not sure if they are Seb/Seb or Seb/Cotton Patchl Just found a Cotton Patch hen's nest so I will be adding some eggs to the 2nd 'bator.

I have three cotton patch and have three more hatching today.

You can try anytime, I gave mine goslings when they were 3 weeks old just wanted to make sure they had time to get to know each other and the goslings wouldn't get trampled. it went great.

What precious babies Congrats!! @paintedbynature

AWWWW I can't wait until mine hatch, I have Chinese white geese, hopefully I get at least 3 or 4. I put the eggs in the incubator 3 days ago and so far everything seems to be going well. I can't get my girls to sit on eggs more than 2-3 hours a day, I wish I had another incubator.

I also have girls that are sitting outside i have one who hasnt laid eggs but built a nest. My other girls are right beside her she was stealing their eggs and putting them in her nest. I got her some duck eggs to pacify her there muscovie eggs shes sitting them i also let her keep two of the stolen eggs. I know muscovies take 35 days and the other two will hatch sooner on day 30 can i take the muscovie eggs back if she abandons them near hatching. I have others in the incubator. Birds are funny this was the only solution i could think of to stop her stealing.

Of course just put the scovy eggs into the bator because most likely once the goslings hatch and she has given the a day or 2 to recover she'll have them out and about.

Hello everyone! I have a pair of Sebastopol - a two year old white female (Lucy) and a one year old grey and white female (Ziggy) that was sold to me as a gander. Our 2 year old female went broody on a nest of infertile eggs, so today I purchased 7 pilgrim / buff mixed eggs for a dollar a piece for her to sit on. Lucy exhibits very strong maternal instincts and is the dominant bird of our flock. Ziggy has been helping maintain the nest, bringing Lucy straw and grass and even down feathers, and otherwise has been keeping Lucy company. I look forward to hopefully having goslings in a month!
My question is this - will Lucy be able to raise her babies without a gander? Will I need to keep the goslings separated from Ziggy and our mixed flock of ducks and chickens? I plan on keeping them separate during their newborn, delicate stage no matter what, but I wasn't sure if I would need to continue separating them until they are large. Thanks everybody!
