Hello,

This is the first time I have had an issue with possible frostbite on a chicken, and I'm a little nervous about how to treat it.
First off, I don't know how it happened, as we keep our coop at around 36 degrees. It was negative temps yesterday (with the wind chill) outside and he was in and out for short periods, but I didn't notice it last night. Today, his wattle is a dark purple at the bottom edges. It's also kind of cold to the touch. Is this sounding like frostbite? I feel so bad. Any advice on how to treat him from this point? He is locked in the coop with his girls now, I'm not allowing them to go outside. (They have PLENTY of room to entertain themselves in the coop) I also have Meloxicam(Metacam) on hand.

Definitely frostbite. If mine only have a little bit I put vaseline on their comb to prevent anymore. If it gets worse you can consider dubbing the comb

He was also in quite a scuffle with our other rooster the day before. I notice now, that it looks a lot like bruising. Does anyone know or have you seen if that area can be bruised from injury?
