What do you think happened? It came down in the morning with its comb bleeding so I thought I stopped the blood and then I left after I put some blue food coloring on to discourage pecking. I came back and it looked really sick and so I brought it in where it died. I can't figure out why this happened because it was 27 outside and a week earlier it was -16. So I don't know what happened.
 
An infection from a pecking wound shouldn't be infected so quickly (if that's how your chicken died) and the wound is too small to be from a predator ( dogs, cats and foxes), so it could be from a snake or spider (maybe too much blood for a spider?).
I'd suggest you to look around and see if there are any snakes etc. Are they near your area?

Yeah I don't believe we have snakes coming into the roost during night because it's winter and it's elevated up 3 feet.
