What breeds do you recommend? And what breeds do you dislike?

Hmm... I would still want to order from a closer state, isn't metzer farms in California? That's too far for me, and isn't that alot of stress on the ducks travelling that far?
Just to let you know I am in Minnesota and I ordered from Metzers. The first batch they sent got overheated (it was very very warm for June), but the second batch were all happy and healthy. I believe cold weather like right now is actually safer, so I think you would be just fine!

It can be but they seemed relaxed when they came.
And Cackle Hatchery is in Missouri so maybe that would be a better option.

Well, I will either order from metzer or cackle, I'm not sure which one yet.

Yeah, I could never order in June, it's usually 100F...

Sounds good!

Oh I bet! We have hot enough summers in Minnesota, I can't imagine a Texan summer!

Yeah it gets hot. I can deal with 100F heat but I can't deal with cold weather, lol

I will be ordering from cackle, metzer doesn't carry Anconas. I will be ordering around March, I don't want it to be too warm when I order them.

Thank you for your help :)

Nevermind.... Their birds aren't sexed.. I have to get females only.

I will probably order from metzer, I just can't get Anconas. I might just get magpies, which are a close relative of the Ancona

I LOVE Welsh Harlequins- they are so friendly and beautiful, and I'd definetely recommend them (You could maybe find a local breeder for these?).

I do have 4 Khaki Campbells, but I'm not massively struck by them. Mine aren't very tame, and although they are great layers, my WH lay more eggs, and I also prefer more rare/intresting breeds.
