My Silkie Rooster was killed by opossums..... :( ...... (The opossums are now no longer a problem). He was such a sweet boy (a member of the family). His feathers and personality was so unique and I loved him dearly. So in an attempt to save a piece of him in a way, I started collecting the eggs and storing them pointy ends down. I had to store them for 9 days. I ordered a Brinsea mini advance incubator (automatic turning and temp control) and had to wait for it to be delivered. I didn't want to make one and chance something going wrong. I candled at day 10 and out of the 7 eggs, only 3 were fertilized :( really hoping to get another Roo. At day 14 I removed the 4 eggs that were not fertilized. The other 3 were developing nicely, moving around, and the air sack was the perfect size for how far along they were, so I know the humidity was right. The only time I took off the lid was when I added water and candled. The incubator held the temps at 99.5-99.6 F. I even check the temp at random times throughout the night. Come lockdown everything looked great. I candled, filled the water pots, placed a non-slid shelf liner down, and replaced the lid. Day 21 has since come and gone. It is now day 24 and the eggs have not Moved, Pipped, or Chirped :( I just want to cry. Should I do a water float test or wait a few more days? Could they just be late because I had to store them over a week before incubating. Is there any hope. Any advice would be great as I am currently a nervous wreck, and can't seem to stop looking at the eggs waiting for them to move... I would rather not get them out for testing/candling if they still might hatch. As far as the temps and humidity goes the Brinsea mini advance has keep everything perfect with no fluctuations.

old eggs unfortunately will often be late quitters

you could do the float test, but i would candle and do the tap test first

At first they looked all dark. But then I turn it at a certain angle and there was a large air cell. Please tell me I did not just shrink wrap my chickens.
