I have 7 silkies that will be 19 weeks old on Wednesday 1 roo and 6 pullets, recently, one of the girls had been ; Checking out the nesting boxes, wattle/comb getting larger/redder, and her earlobes have doubled in size since yesterday (my roosters earlobes got larger a day or two before he started mounting the pullets) and hanging out around the rooster every day and fluffing her feathers around him and making a bababababakak noise, I was wondering how long it should be until she starts laying eggs. And I have a few others that are checking out the boxes a little and earlobes are getting a little bigger, what about them?
Any ideas would help:D

That's pretty young for a silkie. They normally don't start laying until 6-8 months of age, but you never know.

I understand that but I've heard of multiple occasions where silkies begin laying at 4 months. So I was wondering if those are signs that they are to begin laying soon? But thanks:)

Yes, the signs are all there. It shouldn't be but a few days and you should have an egg.

I have a 22 week-old Cream Legbar that just laid her first egg. She has been with three other older pullets in a coop that has been getting augmented light for the past few months. If your Silkie has been exposed to augmented light, it wouldn't be unusual to get early eggs.
