I have 6 golden laced wyandotte and about 16 wks old right now they have ben laying for a wk now but their eggs seem to be medium to small size I have read that they lay large eggs does anyone have any tips they are being fed just laying crumble

Greetings from Kansas, tterry91, and :welcome! Pleased you joined our flock. First eggs from any breed will be smallish when the birds first begin laying...they will slowly increase in size as the birds continue to grow. You might want to take a gander at the Learning Center here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center It is loaded with great articles about most aspects of chicken keeping. Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC! :)

Redsoxs is right...it takes a little time for a girl's plumbing to get up to speed, the eggs should get a bit larger with time.

Hope you are enjoying your flock!

Thanks for the advice I was wondering if that was the issue it just freaked me out one morning I when out to check for eggs an their was one huge egg haha an all others smaller

Hello!
400

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. Did it have a double yoke? Usually when my girls lay an eggzilla, it's a double yoke.

Welcome!

Congratulations on getting some eggs!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
