Anyone ever seen a shaved cat?

Your kitty shouldn't need a coat and will be more comfortable without one.

Yeah, it does seem a little bit bulky. Might try the sweater again though as that seems a little less bulky.

But you are right that she probably doesn't need it. In fact, I was amazed at how warm her body was when I touched it earlier.

Maybe I will save it for if/when I get a smaller dog (which probably will happen eventually) or just put it on her sometimes to look cute.

Or I could just resell it or something.

She was pretty mad at me.

Cats don't do well in clothes, most won't move and they can't groom themselves well. It is fun for a short while or for photos. I have small dogs, they don't care for coats either no matter what type of coat they have, most animals don't feel cold the way us humans do. Coats are usually for the human more than the dog.

I used to put a cat harness on one cat and the other would flip out and attack him just because of the harness, I can't imagine what she would have done with a sweater.

That makes sense, I never thought of the grooming part tbh. But you are right she won't move. Whenever I put a harness or the clothes on she crouches down like in the pictures and she usually also runs and hides a long time. Eventually she comes out of hiding, as evidenced by the picture of her in my room, but was still slinking. I also noticed the didn't appear to want to jump. She came to the edge of the bed twice like she wanted to jump up but retreated. I guess she thought she couldn't? I finally lifted her up and she did start purring actually. But she didn't look that comfortable, like she couldn't comfortably lay cause it fit weird, so I actually took it off right after that.

Yeah, that makes sense. And a lot of the clothes, not necessarily coats but like the shirts and stuff, I feel are definitely for the people or think the dog is a child, etc. Which is fine but some animals might not appreciate it.

Although I will say I have seen some dogs that loved being dressed up and would run over whenever the clothes came out. And I think some of the really short hair breeds, the ones with like no hair at all like Italian Greyhounds and some of those do get cold or I know some that won't go out in the cold, but all these dogs are probably rare, for most animals they don't get as cold i guess or don't care.

Wow she attacked him!?

Thankfully we only have one cat. Although for someone reason the dog will not leave her alone. He's always chased her a little bit and has gotten much better (he used to a lot) but for some reason since we brought her home he just will not stop harassing her. Like she'll be hiding and he goes and gets in her business, she's on the counter or near his food, he runs im, and he won't listen. This is really abnormal. Like I said, he's gotten a lot better so he normally just occasionally chases but now he's obnoxious. I don't know if it's because she looks so different or because she smells like the vet and other animals or something? But I'm hoping he stops soon but I'm thinking he won't and will need some retraining, which isn't a big deal but just kind of annoying. He could probably use some more exercise too. But she's the same cat and smells the same, I don't get it. But maybe she doesn't smell the same?

Anyway, I guess I'll return or sell them then

It's probably the smell which is causing your dog to have increased interest, and maybe your kitty isn't acting as confident as normal because the haircut feels weird, and the clothes are confining. Cats usually control dogs by attitude. I would think kitty would get more confident in a few days as she gets used to the haircut more and remind the dog of it's place.

Yeah, that's probably it. And tbh she really hasn't had the clothes on that much, put them on for the pictures but hasn't had them on since. And actually tbh she usually doesn't. She's a very gentle/timid cat and usually just runs from him. Which of course gets him going more. She usually runs and/or hides. She does sometimes defend when he has her cornered (rare now), if she's up high like on a chair, or today she did a tiny bit when she was under a chair and he got too close. She's been somewhat back to herself today. But honestly even when she does defend it's just swiping at him but she rarely if ever uses her claws. And when she swipes, he just thinks it's a game and gets all sassy haha I feel like he might think the whole thing is a game? Cause today after I yelled at him he ran and grabbed a toy. Maybe he just needs more exercise and playtime and a little bit of retraining so he knows that's not cool. I've always thought that he REALLY needs though is a cat with real, serious attitude like you refer to, that WOULD use claws lol then maybe he'd think twice. Or get mad and retaliate aha which of course would be stopped. But he's also huge and she's tiny so when he used to chase her she just gave up fighting and ran instead.

My dogs need tons of exercise each day to be calm and tired. Two of mine chase my outdoor cat. He tries standing his ground but get run over.

My friend puts in kitty doors in a few of her doors so the kitty can escape and the dog couldn't follow to give the kitty some peace.

Well due to his breed (black Lab/Great Pyrenees mix) he's a very lazy dog and sleeps all day mostly so I think we take for granted how little exercise he needs. In fact, most days his exercise is just going outside. But I think even though he needs very little, he does at least need SOME exercise so I'm going to start taking on a lot more walks and playing with him more.

That's a good idea. He actually usually doesn't go upstairs or downstairs so she does have places to get away, the whole basement is basically hers, but oddly enough she likes being on the main floor. I guess cause she's social?

But anyway, I just put the ecollar on the dog and the difference is amazing. Now, I usually HATE using it but he clearly isn't responding to vocal correction (stops when HE wants to, not immediately) and he can't be on a 6 foot leash all day, so I'm trying it. Not the shock, just the vibration.

First of all, he knew right away what it means and tried not to chase before I even hit anything and when he finally did, all I did was call him and tap the button and geez, he turned right around. I feel bad so it's not a long term solution and he got rewarded for coming back, but the speed with which he turned around was kinda funny, he was up and on his way towards her and just did a 180 right back to me.

I think he'll learn quickly so I can take the collar back off, thinking of having it on most of the day just for a couple days.

And then of course more exercise too.

We have used an e collar a time or two, for wandering hound dogs, and a chicken killer, they have their uses. They do know when it's on or off their necks. Hopefully your dog catches on quickly and finds some other way to entertain himself.

Yeah, it's definitely useful for some stuff. I don't really hate it I guess, that's a strong word, I just try to use other methods, but sometimes it's the only thing that works. Like training from a distance.

Yeah, he caught on quickly to when it's on or not.

I hope he catches on soon too
